Chitosan Coating Improves Postharvest Shelf-Life of Mango (Mangifera indica L.)

چکیده

Mango is an extremely perishable fruit with a short postharvest time, and considerable proportion of harvested mangoes become spoiled due to the decay in mango-producing areas world. The current study was designed evaluate effects chitosan on storage life mango. samples were coated 750, 1000, 1500 ppm solution, before storing them open or zip-bags under ambient refrigeration conditions for different periods. Changes physical chemical parameters recorded treatments’ effectiveness extending shelf-life sustaining quality mangoes. results showed that coating able reduce weight loss up 65% comparison uncoated control. Total mold bacterial counts also significantly lower mangos when they compared samples. In addition, attributes, such as vitamin C content, titratable acidity, sugar ash, protein content retained extent by coatings. Chitosan at temperature (4 °C) zip-bag packaging had greater positive effect shelf-life, maintenance, attributes than temperature. Among concentrations, 1000 solutions could provide better performance extend mango while maintaining attributes. Altogether, our findings suggest effectively prolongs maintains during storage, offers promising potential successful commercialization this edible growers industry.

Postharvest Quality of Mango (mangifera Indica L.) Fruit as Affected by Chitosan Coating

The effect of coating with irradiated Crab and Shrimp chitosan (CHIirr, Mv = 5.14 × 104) and un-irradiated Crab chitosan (CHIun, Mv = 2.61 × 105) on postharvest preservation of mango (Mangifera indica L.) fruit was studied. Irradiation at 100 kGy and 200 kGy of both Crab chitosan and Shrimp chitosan were used and the fruits were stored at 15°C ± 1°C and 85% relative humidity for 6 weeks. The ef...

Effect of Potassium Permanganate on Physico-Chemical Changes and Shelf Life of Mango (Mangifera indica L.)

Mango fruits (cv. Fazli and Khirsapat) were treated with 3 dosages (5, 10 and 20g) of Potassium permanganate (PP) and kept in sealed polythene bags at normal room temperature (28-33 C). It was observed that PP had little effect on colour development in both the cultivars. All the treated fruits remained green upto 6 days of storage. All the treatments delayed ripening of mango fruits from 2.37 ...

Irradiation and Storage Temperature Influence the Physiological Changes and Shelf Life of Mango (Mangifera indica L.)

In spite of being the leading producer of mango in the world, India registers the highest post harvest losses and minuscule exports. The reasons for this paradox are manifold. However, issues related to quarantine, shelf life and quality are the major stumbling blocks to trade, both national and international Therefore, a balance between the required effective dose and tolerance of fruit to irr...

Mango (Mangifera indica L.) Lyophilization Using Vacuum-Induced Freezing

Abstract—Lyophilization, also called freeze-drying, is an important dehydration technique mainly used for pharmaceuticals. Food industry also uses lyophilization when it is important to retain most of the nutritional quality, taste, shape and size of dried products and to extend their shelf life. Vacuum-Induced during freezing cycle (VI) has been used in order to control ice nucleation and, con...

Volatile components from mango (Mangifera indica L.) cultivars.

The volatile components of 20 mango cultivars were investigated by means of simultaneous distillation-extraction, GC, and GC-MS. Three hundred and seventy-two compounds were identified, of which 180 were found for the first time in mango fruit. The total concentration of volatiles was approximately 18-123 mg/kg of fresh fruit. Terpene hydrocarbons were the major volatiles of all cultivars, the ...
